Harborough Town Football Club can confirm that Director of Football Gary Setchell has accepted the managerial position at Basford United and will leave the club with the best wishes of everyone connected with the Bees.
Setch joined Harborough Town in December 2025 and played an important role during a historic period for the football club, helping the Bees secure the Southern League Premier Central title and a third promotion in five seasons.
Harborough Town would like to place on record its sincere thanks for the hard work, commitment and experience Setch has brought to the club during his time at the Beehive and wishes him every success in his new role.
First-team manager Mitch Austin said:
“We brought Setch into the club last season knowing full well that, if the right managerial opportunity came along, it would be difficult to keep hold of him because he still has so much to give the game.
“His experience and knowledge have been invaluable, and he played an important part in helping us secure the Southern League title and promotion into the National League North.
“I would like to thank him for all of his help over the past few months and wish him all the very best in his new job.”
Speaking following the announcement, Gary Setchell said:
“I am extremely grateful to Mitch and everyone at Harborough Town for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a special period in the club’s history.
“Although I have only been here for eight or nine months, the people who run the club and everyone involved, from top to bottom, are among the very best I have worked with throughout my time in football.
“There have been some fantastic memories along the way, not least winning the Southern League title and achieving promotion. Harborough Town is a proper football club and I am certain it will continue to grow and achieve even greater things in the years ahead.”
Everyone at Harborough Town Football Club would like to thank Setch for his contribution and wish him every success at Basford United.
