A unique ‘beer lorry’ will be unveiled at The Beehive on March 7, courtesy of one of HTFC’s sponsors, The Red Lion at Great Bowden.

The eye-catching Budvar vehicle, nicknamed ‘Buddy’, will be serving a range of beverages pitchside including Budweiser’s iconic lager, as well as beer, cider and soft drinks.

Buddy’s debut for the match against Worcester City represents just one element of the enhanced food and drink offering planned for the ground, which will include a dedicated Beer & Food Village.

Built in the Czech Republic and originally used by the Budweiser brewery – which was founded in 1895 – the iconic vehicle is owned by the Three Goats group, the local hospitality business which runs The Red Lion.

Less than 2.5 miles from The Beehive, The Red Lion has become a go-to spot for Harborough Town supporters – popular for its friendly atmosphere and top-quality à la carte menu featuring seasonal and local ingredients.

“Buddy is a real talking point and people love to see him,” says Ellie Uppal of the Three Goats group. “He will become a bit of a landmark at The Beehive and a must-visit spot for those seeking refreshments before, during or after the game.

“The Red Lion team will be dispensing some of our trademark hospitality from the truck at all the remaining home games this season. It marks the start of an exciting partnership between us and HTFC.”

The Red Lion recently created the ultimate spot for sports fans – a covered outdoor space with Sky TV in private boxes. Here, visitors can kick back with a drink (or two!) and a pizza, lighter bite or sharing dish.

“Now we’re taking great drinks and friendly service on the road – extending our offer beyond our venues which also include The Nevill Arms at Medbourne, The Sun Inn at Great Easton and No.23 in Uppingham.

“HTFC is shooting for promotion so, with only a few home matches left, it’s vital we all get behind our local team.

“If you love the atmosphere at The Beehive, you’ll love the buzz around Buddy and The Red Lion.”
