Harborough Town return to cup action this Saturday as they host National League South side Enfield Town in the Second Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Trophy — a compelling tie between two ambitious clubs separated by just three places in the football pyramid.

The Bees have already enjoyed a strong run in the competition, beating AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Hednesford Town to reach this stage. Mitch Austin’s side are currently unbeaten in the league and sit top of the Southern League Premier Central with a game in hand, underlining their excellent form.

It’s been a strong and consistent campaign across all fronts, with Harborough also reaching the Fourth Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup, where they pushed National League side Altrincham all the way. Along the way, they have already defeated two higher-level opponents — Worksop Town and Peterborough Sports — further proving their ability to compete with teams from higher divisions.

Visitors Enfield Town, the first fully fan-owned football club in England, were founded in 2001 and remain a model for community-driven success. Under manager Gavin Macpherson, the North London club have built a reputation for attractive, attacking football but head into the weekend looking to reverse a difficult run of results. They have lost their last five league matches, most recently a 2–1 defeat to Salisbury, and will also be without Adam Thompson and Ruaridh Donaldson, who were both sent off in their previous fixture against Dover Athletic.

In last season’s FA Trophy, the Towners enjoyed a notable run to the Third Round Proper, defeating Carshalton Athletic and Cheshunt before being eliminated by Step 4 side Sittingbourne in one of the shocks of the competition. Determined to respond this year, Enfield have moved to strengthen their squad this week, completing the loan signing of goalkeeper Tom Norcott from Reading FC, who is expected to feature at the Beehive on Saturday.

For Harborough, the tie represents both a challenge and an opportunity — a chance to test themselves again against higher-level opposition while continuing their impressive form across all competitions. With the Beehive expected to welcome another strong crowd, Austin’s men will be aiming to make home advantage count and extend their FA Trophy journey into December.
