Harborough Town FC are proud to announce the installation of a 50.4 kWp Solar PV System at The Beehive — a major step forward in the club’s long-term sustainability plans. ☀️⚡
The project, completed in partnership with Plug Me In, is expected to generate over 43,000 kWh of clean electricity per year, cutting around 9.2 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually and providing a return on investment in just two years.
Situated at the Harborough Town Community Football Ground on Northampton Road, the installation supports the club’s ambition to reduce energy costs, improve efficiency and take tangible steps towards a greener future.
💬 Siobhan Brewin, Head of Finance & Club Operations, said:
“This is a really important step for us as a club. With energy costs increasing and our LED floodlights already reducing our impact, moving to solar power was the natural next step. It’s an investment in sustainability — and in the future of Harborough Town FC.”
Working with Plug Me In has allowed the club to make measurable progress toward its sustainability goals, with the system already making a positive environmental and financial impact.
This move also forms part of a broader plan to continue developing The Beehive as a modern, community-focused facility — with potential future upgrades, such as battery storage, under review to help the club retain and reuse surplus energy.
