Harborough took a while to find their rhythm in Sunday’s encounter against Coalville Town Development, but once they did, they took full control of the game. Harborough opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Jess Seaton found the back of the net, but Coalville quickly showed they weren’t going to be overwhelmed. The home team grew into the game and began to put pressure on Harborough’s defence. Despite a show of dominance from Coalville, Harborough doubled their lead in the 35th minute through Seaton once again, but Coalville responded with two goals of their own in quick succession, levelling the score at 2-2. Kylie Fromant netted a crucial goal in the dying moments of the first half which narrowly put Harborough back in the lead before the half-time break. The scoreline at half-time reflected a much closer game than Harborough have recently been accustomed to.Coalville’s persistence had given them a fighting chance, but Harborough had made some adjustments that would address Coalville’s advances.

In the second half, Harborough managed to regain control of the speed of the game, allowing the team to dominate possession and isolate Coalville’s attacking players at the top. This shift in momentum opened the floodgates, and Harborough quickly put the game beyond Coalville’s reach.
Chloe Maitland was the first to strike in the second half, scoring just three minutes after the restart. Jess Seaton then took centre stage, netting a second-half hat-trick with goals in the 59th, 76th, and 82nd minutes. Harborough winger, Minny Morton, capped off the impressive performance with a goal in the 83rd minute, completing an 8-2 victory for Harborough.

The team’s attacking brilliance was complemented by excellent link-up play from a number of contributors, with assists from across the midfield. A special mention goes to this week’s Player of the Match, Chloe Maitland, whose commanding presence allowed Harborough to produce some outstanding passing sequences. The midfielder’s enthusiasm was also on display with a bicycle kick attempt that, though off target, was a moment that deserved recognition.

Harborough’s performance in the second half was a testament to their quality and they’ll be hoping to carry this momentum into the remainder of their fixtures.
