Leicestershire Women’s & Girls’ League – Division 2
Sunday 8th September 2024

Harborough Town Women 1 (Jess Seaton 74′)
Loughborough Foxes 1 (73′)

Harborough Town Women made their long-anticipated and warmly-welcomed league debut as they faced an away match at Loughborough Foxes on Sunday.

The game was a gripping contest from start to finish, with the heat adding an extra layer of difficulty for both teams. Harborough Town’s defence, though put to the test especially in the first half, held firm against Loughborough’s attacks withstanding several attempts from the opposition.

The deadlock was broken mid-way through the second half when Loughborough Foxes took the lead. However, Harborough Town responded immediately with an equaliser! Jess Seaton, displaying impressive composure, cut through the crowd of players to put the ball in the back of the net following an assist from goalkeeper, Kaysha Neal.

Both teams had opportunities as the game wore on, but Harborough Town Women were more than happy to secure a point on the road in their debut league game as the match finished 1-1. Their performance, especially their defensive resilience and quick attacking response to going behind, will certainly give them plenty of confidence as they look ahead to the rest of the season.
