Harborough Town FC are pleased to announce a partnership with Bermudan football scout Corey Hill.
Harborough Town FC and Corey Hill have agreed to work in partnership to find the best young talent coming out of Bermuda. Corey Hill is an ex-Bermudan International and NCAA Division 1 player and has been steadily involved in bringing young footballers to the UK with placements at HTFC and Brooke House College.
Co-Chairman Peter Dougan commented, “this is another step forward for the football club as we have seen many talented footballers now coming through the esteemed Brooke House College Football Academy and with Corey’s wealth of knowledge within his home country of Bermuda we are hoping that striking this partnership will show the young footballing talent of Bermuda that there is a genuine pathway from college football to semi-professional and ultimately professional football in the UK.”
Dougan goes on to say, “We have seen the likes of Jutorre Burgess, Jakeem Jennings and the like, that have flourished working with both Brooke House and our development programme, with Jutorre himself making over 30 appearances for Harborough Town FC last season at the age of 18, as well as having a couple of trials at Championship clubs, in what proved to be the football clubs most successful season ever.”
The project is hoping to see Corey deliver a number of up and coming youngsters into the UK through his scouting network where he is offering no ‘fancy dreams’ of immediate Premiership football, but nurturing these talented footballers through a semi-professional club that has extremely high visibility in the national game.
Corey said, “I am delighted to work with Harborough Town FC and I believe we can introduce them to a number of talented Bermudan footballers. We have already seen two of our players sign semi-professional/professional contracts in Deniche Hill and Jutorre Burgess so why not others. There are professional football clubs who are now looking at the youth game in Bermuda and sometimes the youngsters get caught in the headlights of a Premiership or Football League club offering the world to these young lads, which is great, but there are only so many players that can succeed at the highest level. I see the partnership with HTFC as a great opportunity to get these young kids into a very high level of semi-professional football (step 3 of the English pyramid) at a football club that is clearly on the upward curve with fantastic facilities. Harborough Town FC can offer these players a shop window and a platform to flourish and progress naturally into the professional game.”
