Harborough Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of John Shamalo, who joins the Bees from fellow Southern League Premier Central side, Royston Town.

The 22-year-old Swedish forward arrives at the Beehive with experience across the non-league pyramid, having previously represented AFC Dunstable, Barton Rovers and Eastbourne Borough. He also gained valuable Step 2 experience earlier this season during a loan spell with Bedford Town.

Shamalo made the switch to Royston in January, and Bees supporters may already be familiar with the name — he found the net at the Beehive on Valentine’s Day, although the Bees side ran out 2–1 winners on the afternoon.

Pacey, aggressive and full of intent in the final third, Shamalo adds further depth and attacking variety as the Bees head into the closing weeks of the campaign and continue their push at the top of the Southern League Premier Central table.

Speaking on the signing, Bees Manager Mitch Austin said:

“John caught the eye when we faced Royston back in February and he fits the profile of striker we’re looking for.

We’ve built a competitive squad here, but he’s coming in to strengthen that and make a real impact. He’s hungry, works hard for the team and gives us another strong option at the top end of the pitch.”

Everyone at Harborough Town would like to welcome John to the club and wish him every success in yellow.

On behalf of everyone at the club, we would also like to place on record our thanks to Royston Town for their cooperation and professionalism in assisting with the move so promptly.
