The Bees’ FA Youth Cup journey came to an agonising end on penalties, falling 5–4 in the shootout to Royston Town after a hard-fought 1–1 draw.
Harborough dominated large spells of the contest, creating chances and dictating play, but a lapse just before half-time saw the hosts edge in front. Undeterred, the Young Bees piled forward after the break and were finally rewarded with a late equaliser to take the tie to spot-kicks.
Sadly, the lottery of penalties went the way of Royston – their third shootout success in a row – as they booked their place in the final qualifying round.
Though the run ends here, the Harborough players have been outstanding ambassadors for the club throughout the campaign. Their quality on the pitch and conduct has drawn praise from opponents and neutrals alike.
The challenge of reaching the final qualifying round now passes to next year’s U18 squad – but this group will remember the heart, fight, and football they produced on this Cup adventure. 🐝💛🖤
