Player Profile

Britt Assombalonga is Harborough Town’s most recent signing. The former DR Congo international caused the footballing community to erupt when he joined the newly promoted side. Assombalonga is best recognised for being an emphatic goalscorer in the championship with memorable spells at Nottingham Forest and Middlesborough. The 33-year-old striker came through Watford’s academy and made his first team debut for the Hornets in March 2012. A few loan spells later, Britt moved to Peterborough United for a club-record fee of around £1.5 million. With 33 goals in 58 appearances across all competitions, Britt ended the 2013/14 season as League One’s joint top goalscorer.

This certainly impressed championship giants, Nottingham Forest, as Assombalonga signed for the Nottinghamshire side in 2014. He became one of the most expensive young Championship strikers at the time. Regardless of his injury during this period, Britt managed to score 30 goals in 69 appearances for the club. The bagsman then spent four years with Middlesborough scoring 47 goals in 161 league appearances. After storming the Championship, Britt spent some time in Turkey with clubs such as Adana Demirspor and Antalyaspor until he returned to England in 2025 to play for League Two side, Barnet.

He spent one season at Barnet before becoming one of Harborough Town’s biggest signings. The club described it as a landmark signing and fans were definitely ‘buzzing’ to hear the news. Assombalonga mentioned how Manager Mitch Austin had a major part to play in his decision to move to the small market town team. He was impressed by Austins vision and coaching staff. Currently Britt has made 8 appearances for the club and scored 2 goals. One being his insane volley against Darlington in a 4-2 win.
