Harborough Town Women

From recreational roots

Harborough Town FC have fielded many junior girls' teams over the years; however, it wasn't until 2020 when local ladies Louise Clark and Loreen Herzig decided to create the Queen Bees side. The newfound women's team was originally created to provide the women of Market Harborough with a space to keep active and socialise.

Fast forward to 2023, Harry Fordham was brought in to coach these inspired individuals and develop the team into something more goal oriented. The following year, a decision was made for the Queen Bees to enter their very first competitive league.

A first season to remember

In the 2024/25 season, Harborough Town Women joined the Leicestershire Women's and Girls' League in Division Two. Against all odds, the team had a hugely successful season, finishing in the top 3 and scoring 148 goals overall!

The side now enter their third season of competitive football, comfortably playing a higher standard of football in Division One.

The coach's vision

When asked about ambitions for the team, Coach Harry explained how the Queen Bees want to challenge themselves and create an environment where every player has the opportunity to improve.

"Progression is not always immediate, but with the right attitude, commitment, and togetherness, I believe we can continue to move forward. It's all about creating a pathway for the future of women's football at Harborough Town. We want young women and girls in the local area to look at the team and see what's possible. Whether they are just starting their football journey or already playing at grassroots level, we want them to feel that there is a place for them at this club."

Training and matchdays

The women's team train every Wednesday evening on the club's 3G pitch from 8pm till 9:30pm. Home games are also played on this pitch with a 2pm kick-off, and entry is free.
