CFA 2- 1 Harborough Town Under 21’s
Report – Josh Unsworth
The Young Bees bowed out of the County Cup after a brave and spirited performance against CFA.
Using the competition to give valuable minutes to several U18 players, the U21s made an excellent start and took a deserved first-half lead. A moment of brilliance down the wing from Ollie Price created the opening, with his cross turned home by Lovell Edwards to make it 1–0.
Harborough dominated much of the first half, playing with confidence and energy, but were unable to turn their pressure into further goals before the break.
CFA came out stronger after the restart, using their direct style to good effect and equalising from a corner to level the scores at 1–1. Both sides pushed hard for a winner, but in the dying moments, CFA struck a superb goal to edge the tie and progress to the next round.
Head Coach Josh Unsworth said:
“Congratulations to CFA – they were a good test for the boys today. I decided to rest ten players, four of them being cup-tied after featuring for the first team, and used the opportunity to give our U18s a runout. They gave a really good account of themselves. Credit to their U18 managers, John Boseley and Paul Crosbie, for the work they’re doing developing these lads. It’s always disappointing to lose, but it was great to see so many young 16- and 17-year-olds representing the club today.”
