Enterprise National League North football returns to the Beehive on Monday as Marine travel to town. This will be the first competitive fixture between the sides, so both teams will want to make an impression.
This matchup has all the makings of a thrilling contest, and it’s sure to be a tough test for both sides, backed up by manager Mitch Austin: “Tough test; the manager was rallying around because results weren’t going their way.”
Marine AFC are an extremely decorated non-league side with over 30 trophies. The club is named after the waterfront Marine Hotel on the River Mersey, where the club was formed in 1894. The Mariners have had many memorable occasions over the years, including back-to-back Northern Premier League Championships in 1993-95, reaching the FA Cup Third Round in 2023 when they hosted Tottenham Hotspur, and promotion to the National League North in the 23/24 season via the playoffs. Last season they finished mid-table in 12th place, winning 18 games over the course of the season.
Manager Bobby Grant took charge in May 2025 after retiring from playing at the club. Grant previously managed Radcliffe as a player-manager from 2021 to 2023. This season started slowly for the Mariners, having lost their opening three games against Macclesfield, Hereford and Chorley. However, they found their first win this season away at King’s Lynn Town, then most recently beat their manager’s former side, Radcliffe, 2-0 at home on Saturday, and will look to continue this winning run.
There are several players Harborough will have to monitor closely throughout the game, none more than George Newell, who scored both goals in Saturday’s victory, while at the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Jack McIntyre came back into the side and kept their first clean sheet of the season on Saturday, protected by experienced centre-back Declan Drysdale, who joined the club in 2025 after leaving League Two side Tranmere Rovers. Midfielder Sonny Hilton scored their fourth in their 4-1 victory away at King’s Lynn and will be looking to add to his tally for his side after joining in the summer. A mixture of youth and experience will certainly prove to be a test, and after conceding one goal and netting six in their last two games, no one in yellow will be underestimating them.
Harborough will be hoping to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the season on Friday at Keys Park against Hednesford in a hard-fought match. However, the Bees are yet to taste anything but victory at the Beehive this season, having beaten Morecambe 1-0 and coming back from trailing 2-1 at half-time to beat Darlington 4-2.
After five games this season, coming away with eight points, the Bees have held their own and proved they belong at this level against established sides in the division. And there is no doubt the fans have contributed to the start of the season, backing the team and continuing to push them, winning or losing, at home and away.
Striker Britt Assombalonga leads the way with goals this season, with three in consecutive matches, closely followed by Riley O’Sullivan with two. Both will hope to add to their tallies against the Mariners on Bank Holiday Monday.

Home Supporters
With a busy Bank Holiday crowd expected, supporters are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance through Fanbase.
Advance purchase will help supporters enjoy a quicker and smoother entry into the stadium on matchday.
Following the closure of advance online sales, tickets will also be available to purchase on the gate from 1.30pm, subject to availability.
Away Supporters
Tickets for away supporters are available online only via the Harborough Town FC Fanbase Ticketing Platform.
There will be no away ticket sales on the gate on the day of the match. Any away supporters arriving without a valid advance online ticket will be refused entry.
Away supporters are therefore advised not to travel without first purchasing their ticket online.
