Harborough Town will take on Rushall Olympic at the Beehive in the Second Round Qualifying of the Emirates FA Cup, following last week’s draw.
Harborough’s love affair with the FA Cup continues, with the Bees beginning this season’s journey at home to Southern League Premier Central side Rushall Olympic. The Pics currently sit seventh after winning four of their opening seven league fixtures, having been moved across from the Northern Premier League Premier Division following a 16th-place finish last season. Of course, the division they now find themselves in will be very familiar to everyone in yellow, with Harborough lifting the title only a few months ago.
The Bees agonisingly missed out on the FA Cup proper last season, bowing out in the Fourth Round Qualifying at home to Altrincham after extra time. That really only tells half the story though. Harborough had already somehow fought back from two goals down away at the National League Robins to earn a dramatic draw and bring them back to the Beehive. The replay was equally bonkers, with the Bees reduced to ten men after just seven minutes before battling away for the rest of the night and forcing extra time. Altrincham eventually ran out 3-0 winners, but anyone who was there will remember just how close Harborough came to pulling off something pretty special.
The fixture is provisionally scheduled for the weekend of the 19th September, with ticket information to be announced in due course.
Elsewhere in the draw, another tasty tie the Bees’ fans may want to keep their eye on is Wellingborough Town or Kettering Town v Quorn.
There’s just something about the FA Cup, isn’t there? Harborough supporters certainly don’t need reminding of that after the last couple of seasons. A new campaign, a home draw and another chance to make some memories. Here we go again.
