Harborough Town  2  (Patterson (OG) 49’, Stephens 90+3’)
Bromsgrove Sporting  0

It finished 2-0 to Harborough Town under the lights as two second-half goals saw the Bees beat Bromsgrove Sporting at a foggy Harborough Town Community Football Ground.

After a flurry of early chances for both sides, the Bees had a penalty appeal waved away by referee Grace Lowe as Jutorre Burgess went down in the area, and got booked for his adjudged dive.

The home side nearly got the goal they were pushing for on the stroke of half-time as Ben Stephens’ header at the back post was blocked from close range following a superb cross from Amar Sandhu.

The low fog rolled in, and in the spirit of the upcoming Halloween, the second half started with a trick or treat as Ethan Patterson inadvertently sliced Josh Walsh’s cross into the back of his own net to gift Harborough the lead.

After defending resolutely until the 90th minute, Harborough pushed forward one last time and Stephens got the goal that his performance deserved as he deftly chipped the onrushing Charlie Price to secure all three points.

With the win in the bag, it almost got better for the Bees forward as, full of confidence following his goal, Stephens tried his luck from the halfway line and came a matter of inches away from the spectacular as his effort landed on the roof of the net on the stroke of the final whistle.
