Bees Edge Past Chesham in Latest Pre-Season Test.
After a tight first ten minutes, the first chance of the game came in the 15th minute for Chesham United as Mitch Weiss got on the end of a long ball and volleyed it over the bar. Chesham got in behind again in the 18th minute as Jadon Bennett beat the offside, but his shot was straight at Bees goalkeeper James Dadge.
Chesham had another chance in the 20th minute after Rory McAuley headed a cross clear and it fell to Alex Babos, who hit a shot just wide. Dadge was forced into making another save in the 25th minute when Alex Lafleur hit a shot from just outside the box.
The Bees had a chance in the 32nd minute as Callum Powell made a good run up the left wing, but it was seen behind for a goal kick. Chesham had another chance in the 40th minute when Connor Kennedy was dispossessed, and Babos got a shot off, which was saved by Dadge.
The Bees had a good chance in the 45th minute as it fell to Danny Newton, who volleyed it on his left foot, which was blocked by a Chesham defender behind for a corner.
The first chance of the second half came for a much-changed Chesham side, who had changed all outfield players at half-time, their shot was deflected for a corner.
The Bees got the first goal of the match as the press paid off when Terell Pennant intercepted the ball and played it into Trialist, who stayed composed and set it to Callum Powell, who placed it into the back of the net in the 59th minute.
Paul Malone was inches away from doubling the lead minutes later when Josh Walsh whipped across into the box, and the header hit the underside of the bar but wasn’t judged to have crossed the line by the officials.
The chances kept coming for the Bees just after the second half drinks break in the 71st minute as newly announced Club Captain Connor Kennedy put a cross into Josh Walsh, who headed it just over the bar.
Chesham had a chance to get the equaliser in the 78th minute when Chesham’s trialist picked up the ball, turned well, but his shot went just wide of the post.
The Bees got a second in the 86th minute as Sam Osborne whipped a cross which was headed into the net by Trialist.
