Harborough Town Women won on penalties 4-3
Harborough Town Women have made an incredible start to their first competitive season having gone unbeaten after their first four games following another win on Sunday against Saffron Dynamo. Having beaten Saffron Dynamo four goals to three the Sunday before, Harborough Town fought hard once again to secure a win in the cup match replay. After going a goal down, Harborough midfielder, Honour Slater placed the ball in the back of the net following a beautiful pass slotted through Saffron Dynamo’s defence by Jasmine Hayes – putting the home team back in the game. With the score level after 90 minutes, the match progressed to penalties where Honour Slater, Sara Lonsdale, Scarlett Godefroy and Dom Ratcliffe-McClelland all beat the keeper from the spot. This, alongside TWO penalty saves by Jody Knight, saw Harborough win their cup game 4-3 on penalties! Congratulations to Sunday’s Player of the Match, Jody Knight, who stepped in as keeper and excelled under the pressure of penalties.
Currently sitting 4th in the league table with two games in hand, Harborough Town’s confidence remains high as they face table-toppers, Brookside Athletic, at the #BeeHive on Sunday 6th October!
