Sunday 26th January, 2025.
Harborough Town Women secured another away victory on Sunday (26th Jan), defeating Leicester United 4-2 to climb to fifth in the table. Harborough had an uncertain start as Leicester United took the lead just two minutes in. Despite creating opportunities, Harborough were unable to equalize before half-time, with Leicester maintaining their narrow 1-0 advantage.
But the second half saw a stunning turnaround. Just three minutes after the restart, midfielder Scarlett Godefroy equalized with a well-placed goal, assisted by Jess Seaton. This put Harborough back onto winning form with Jess Seaton adding a second goal to the tally moments later. Scarlett Godefroy struck again in the 58th minute, putting Harborough firmly into the lead with a two goal advantage. Leicester United pulled one back in the 75th minute, converting a free-kick from the edge of the box. However, Harborough stayed composed and sealed the win in the 87th minute when Dom Ratcliffe-McClellend scored following an assist from winger Honour Slater.
It was a well-deserved victory for Harborough Town Women, with Scarlett Godefroy earning Player of the Match for her pivotal role in the second-half comeback. This performance further highlights the team’s quality as they continue their climb up the table. In a string of away games, next up we play Leicester City Ladies Devs at Aylestone Park Football Club, Saffron Lane, Wigston. Join us on Sunday 2nd February for a 2pm KO!
