Set pieces shaped the game as two corners and a penalty save saw Harborough Town defeat Boldmere St Michaels.

The Bees took the lead after Paul Malone’s header from Jake Duffy’s corner beat the diving Daniel Moore to put the hosts in front.

Boldmere’s stature in the game grew and they earned the chance to level the score from the penalty spot but Elliott Taylor’s superb save down to his right prevented Callum Gittings getting his name on the scoresheet.

The crossbar halted Harborough doubling their lead early in the second half through Ben Williams’ effort from a corner, but it was Boldmere who were exerting the pressure as Taylor came to the rescue once more with a strong left-hand to deny Andre Brown at the near post.

Corners proved to be Boldmere’s undoing once more late in the game as Alex Morris secured all three points with a bullet header.

Harborough Town 2 (1)
