Leicestershire Women’s & Girls’ League – Division 2
Sunday 15th September 2024

Harborough Town Women 22 (Lauren Summerhayes 8, Sabrina Bond 4, Kylie Fromant 3, Scarlett Godefroy 2, Georgia Turner 2, Emma Chantler 2, OG)
AFC Market Bosworth 1 (84’)

Harborough Town Women had a spectacular home league debut this Sunday, commanding a 22-1 victory over AFC Market Bosworth.

The first half saw Harborough Town capitalise on AFC Market Bosworth’s depleted squad, who, due to a lack of player availability could only field eight players. At 14-0 going into the second half, Harborough adjusted their own numbers on the field, eventually matching opposition numbers. AFC Market Bosworth suffered a further setback, dropping down to seven due to player injury.

Lauren Summerhayes, Sabrina Bond, Kylie Fromant, Scarlett Godefroy, Georgia Turner and Emma Chantler all took a spot on the scoresheet on Sunday, with Lauren Summerhayes’ eight goal contribution earning her player of the match and placing the Harborough striker as top goal scorer in the league after two games.

Setting a strong foundation for the season ahead, the goals attained in this early match could prove crucial to Harborough’s final table position. Harborough will be looking to build on this momentum as they continue their league journey, but first look to cup competition this Sunday at the #BeeHive vs Saffron Dynamo, Sun 22nd Sept at 2pm.
