Harborough Town over come both Gresley Rovers and the elements as Joel Carta’s late strike earns the Bees all three points.

The home side came close to taking the lead early on, with Paul Malone’s header thwarted by the crossbar and Gary Mulligan’s follow up cleared off the line by a resolute Gresley defence.

Gresley threatened with pace in behind and looked as though they were through to score with James Spruce bearing down on goal, but the attacker was crowded out before a long shot was later tipped over the bar.

Rain and hail were the only things peppering the goals at the beginning of the second half as the match turned into a midfield battle, but the game started to swing in the Bees’ favour as they started to boss possession.

Kai O’Keeffe and Dempsey Arlott-John tested Lewis Fenney with low-driven shots, prior to substitute Carta’s venomous volley bulging the back of the net to give Harborough a deserved lead.

Gresley pushed for an equaliser and thought they snatched a point in the dying seconds, but a great save from Elliott Taylor denied them, before George Clark was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence on the stroke of the full time whistle.
